Privacy Policy

Boardstrom (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is published by Merten Stroetzel. This privacy policy explains what data Boardstrom handles and how.
Summary
Boardstrom does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data about you on our servers. The app runs entirely on your device. All Victron device data stays local.
What the app does on your device
Boardstrom communicates with nearby Victron Energy devices over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to display solar and battery metrics. To do this, the app:
- Scans for BLE advertisements within range of your device. This requires the operating system's Bluetooth and Location permissions on Android and Bluetooth permission on iOS. Location permission is required by Android for BLE scanning; we do not access or use your GPS location.
- Stores device encryption keys locally on your device using the operating system's secure storage (iOS Keychain, Android EncryptedSharedPreferences). These keys are entered by you and never leave your device.
- Caches recent device readings locally on your device so charts and history continue to work between sessions. This data never leaves your device.
Data we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any account information. The app has no user accounts.
- We do not collect or transmit your location.
- We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or analytics data.
- We do not track your usage of the app.
- We do not sell, share, or rent data to third parties.
Third-party services
Boardstrom integrates with the following third-party services. These services have their own privacy policies governing the data they receive directly from the operating system or app stores; we do not control or have access to that data beyond what is necessary for the service to function.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: handle download, install, and updates of the app. Subject to Apple's and Google's privacy policies.
- Apple In-App Purchase / Google Play Billing: handle purchase of the optional “Pro” upgrade. Apple and Google process your payment; Boardstrom does not see or store your payment information.
- RevenueCat: a third-party service that helps us validate in-app purchases and provide receipt-restore functionality. When you make an in-app purchase, RevenueCat receives an anonymous purchase token and a randomly generated device identifier from your device. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or any other personal information. See https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy for their policy.
- Expo / EAS Update: distributes occasional over-the-air updates to the app's JavaScript bundle. When the app checks for an update, Expo receives the app version and the OS platform; no personal data is sent. See https://expo.dev/privacy for their policy.

Children
Boardstrom is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date and post the new policy at the same URL.
